That is really cool. I had never thought of the ramifications of cyborg technology for soldiers, but it makes sense that the technology should be used to replace limbs as well as to add things such as the "third arm" in the article we read. In fact, I would think this is more practical.
I feel like this is the way that cyborg technology should be used...it's really almost necessary for people to continue functioning normally after accidents that they really had no control over..
This is very interesting! I agree with Elizabeth that this is definitely a good way of using cyborg technology. It helps people return back to their "normal" lives, and helps them move as per normal. Many people who have been paralyzed or injured severely in accidents would feel as though their lives are hopeless and not worth living because they can't do what ordinary people can't. Thus, I feel that a cyborg technology like this would give them a great chance to rebuild their self esteems.
I think a lot of points were made last class where the line between help and gained help is. By adding an arm which is unnecessary for normal functions of the body, however if it replacing what used to be there I think the advancement in this technology can be very beneficial to those who have lost part of their bodily functions and wish to live their lives in a normal fashion again.
I agree that this is a good way to use cyborg technology too, it help someone with dissabilities to function normally again, that arm would probably be really helpful for those people in daily life. I just wonder would she be happy everytime she looks at that wierd arm though .
